KAMRA™ Inlay

KAMRAThe KAMRA™ Inlay treatment is an eye procedure that improves near vision and can free patients from the constant frustrations of reading glasses.

The KAMRA™ inlay sits in the clear tissue at the front of the eye, known as the cornea. Smaller and thinner than a contact lens, the KAMRA™ inlay is a mini-ring with an opening — or pinhole — in the center. The inlay uses this pinhole to focus light coming into the eye. This improves near vision while maintaining distance vision.

As we age the natural lens within the eye gradually begins to thicken and lose its flexibility. This occurs throughout our lives, but most of us do not notice the process until after age 40, when it begins to manifest itself as a loss of the ability to focus on near objects. This loss of near vision, known as presbyopia, is a frustrating but completely natural condition that eventually forces most people to use reading glasses in order to see printed text, computer screens, and smart phone screens clearly.

Now the KAMRA™ inlay is here to give you back the power and ease of self-sufficiency, so you can look and feel younger.

The KAMRA™ inlay can change your life in many ways, including dramatically reducing your dependency on reading glasses whether you’re at home, at work or on the go.

How Does The KAMRA™ Inlay Work?

The KAMRA™ inlay, backed by a decade of research and development, works to restore your eye’s ability to focus light. The inlay is a mini-ring with an opening in the center that is implanted into the cornea. The inlay is smaller than a contact lens and lighter than a grain of salt and features 8,400 high precision, laser etched micro-openings to maintain cornea health. The inlay expands your range of vision by focusing light that enters your eye through the center of the inlay. You can expect less dependency on reading glasses and experience improved clarity when performing everyday activities.

What can I expect?

During the procedure, the surgeon will numb your eye with drops to ensure comfort. The surgeon will then create a microscopic opening on the surface of your cornea and implant the inlay. The entire procedure takes less than 20 minutes. You won’t have any stitches or bandages, only eye drops and follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing.

Your period of recovery and improvement will vary. You may see an improvement in your near vision in as little as a few days. Or, it may take longer.
